Justin Giunta, Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation 2008 best accessories designer, uses design elements from his ready to wear jewelry in the Subversive for Target line.

Following in the footsteps of other famous designers such as Isaac Mizrahi and Joy Gryson, Justin Giunta, named best accessories designer by Ecco Domani's Fashion Foundation at the Spring/Summer 2008 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has a jewelry design line at Target.

What's wonderful about the Subversive for Target line is that the jewelry designs available at Target can be traced back to his ready to wear collection available on his website. Check out his press mentions in such magazines as Vogue and W. Jewelry pieces shown in those magazines contain many of the same design elements as jewelry sold at Target.

Subversive Jewelry and Glamour Magazine

Predominately placed in March 2007 issue of Glamour Magazine is Subversive’s Double-Strand Jade Eye Necklace. Made with vintage chain and ribbon with jade and wood beads it retails for $980. The Target version for $59.99 - the Silk Crystal Beaded Necklace in pink.

Subversive Jewelry and Vogue Magazine

Featured in the Index Checklist section of August 2007, Vogue magazine are the Subversive Scarab Earrings. Made with vintage chain and antique beads and posts these earrings retail for $360. Featured in this same issue is Subversive’s Emerald Mini Hermitage, a necklace made with vintage chain, crystals and antique beads. This necklace retails for $980.

Combining design elements of the two is Subversive for Target’s Cactus Cluster Drop Earrings. These earrings are made using green and white crystal accents with faux pearls and retail at Target for $17.99.

Subversive for Target and Lucite

If one loves the look of Alexis Bittar’s Lucite jewelry, but doesn’t like the price tag, check out Subversive for Target’s Bee Lucite Hinge Cuff Bracelet in white. At $14.99, It’s just impossible to beat the price for this bracelet. Made from white Lucite, it’s embellished with a darling green crystal bee charm.

How to Wear Subversive for Target Jewelry

While one can order this jewelry online at the Target webside, and usually get free shipping to boot, it's best to purchase this jewelry in personal at one of the stores.

The design line for the most part is not timid in nature. The designs are big, the colors are vibrant. If one checks out the Press section of the Subversive website, it's apparent that the necklaces fill in the front of the garment.

Looking at the selections on the Target website, this is not as apparent as the jewelry is not shown on models. If one checks out the Guest Ratings on the Target site, any less than positive ratings are due to the fact that the purchaser was surprised by how oversized the jewelry is. The Target description gives the length of the necklaces but not the size of the beads which is the problem.

In any event, the Subversive for Target line is fantastic jewelry at a very reasonable price. It's well worth at look the next time one is at the store.
