Ivanka Trump Gives the Tiara a Twist and a Move to the Forehead

Falling in line with the recent popularity of hair jewelry in the form of tiaras, Ivanka Trump was spotted at the Met Costume Institute Gala this week wearing forehead jewelry. While Trump stated her inspiration was "Labyrinth princess meets superhero", the forehead jewelry had a very Indian Maharaja look to it. That is, it had gemstone drops falling from the center of the piece onto the forehead.
Deconstructing the Forehead Jewelry Look
Think of a torque-style rigid, choker-type necklace; move that type of piece up and onto the hair at a horizontal slant on the top of the head (hair bands are on the vertical) and one has a tiara. Tiaras were first sighted this year designed by Vera Wang and Bottega Veneta.
Now, move that same look on a complete horizontal onto the forehead and you've got forehead jewelry. Like ornate tiaras, this is a look that is for the most part best left to the young. Although actor Kelly Preston was sighted wearing one a few months back and looked stunning.
Ease of wear? Depends on the elements of the design. Any piece of forehead jewelry needs to have a system that holds it fast to the head, while not too tight thus causing a headache or tangling in the hair, making it a mess to remove at the end of the evening.
