Ready-To-Wear Fall Fashion Week has moved to Milan, Italy. At Milan, the design house of Bottega Veneta is showing several very cool pieces of jewelry to accessorize their garment line.
First though a consideration of jewelry that will accessorize with Bottega Veneta’s Spring/Summer 2008 Ready-To-Wear collection.
Neutral Colors for Spring/Summer 2008:
Bottega Veneta is showing tan on tan on tan with a sprinkling of sky blue in their Spring/Summer 2008 line. To follow are suggestions for precious metal and organic material to coordinate with any hue of tan.
- Precious Metal – The pick for Spring/Summer 2008 tan garments is karated or gold filled jewelry. Let’s face it, karated gold is expensive but it just looks so rich and smooth when worn against tan or taupe. Well made gold-filled jewelry will give the same effect.
The runway models in the Bottega Veneta Spring/Summer show went down the catwalk with obviously tanned skin. While a naturally occurring tan is out of vogue for health reasons, there are numerous ways to achieve natural looking artificial tans. Gold earrings, necklaces and bracelets just look fantastic against skin with color.
- Organic Materials – Milky white pearls whether simulated, natural or cultured are the top pick for organics worn with tan. It is also very easy to string a great looking necklace of simulated pearls if one does not care to knot between the pearls.
Fall 2008
Following in the current trend for Fall 2008 of wrapped leather bracelets, Bottega Veneta is showing a trio of leather bracelets worn together. The bracelet worn closest to the hand is a thin strip of black patent leather; the middle bracelet is a wide strip of black leather; the third is a wide strip of black leather with cut-out geometric shapes.
The three bracelets are shown with a black garment. The combination of leather material, sizes and surface design add up to a very compelling wrist profile that has the added appeal of being job friendly as they are relatively soundless (unlike metal bangle bracelets).
Also being shown are princess, square-cut ruby earrings. The princess cut is a slightly tricky one – thus jewelry made with this cut gemstone is more expensive than round, oval or emerald cut. Bottega Veneta’s ruby earrings are presented in a simple four-prong setting.

Saks has a very interesting ad campaign running – Decades of Style: Trend Then, Trend Now. A Bottega Veneta antique brass gold tiara is shown in the 1920s decade.
Tiaras can be a multi-purpose accessory as if the shape is right a tiara can migrate down to the neckline and be worn as a cuff necklace. Depending on the decorative nature of the terminators, the tiara could be worn with the terminator in the front or back.
When purchasing a tiara for a special event, try it out around the neckline and see if it is a comfortable fit – a great two-for-one.
